Of course, we've all been thinking about Mother's and women in general on this special holiday, and I just needed to put down some thoughts I've had...
I love the way the gospel of Jesus Christ emphasizes the important role of women and their incredible godlike potential-not only in the future, but now, on earth-in their roles as sisters, friends, mothers, wives, daughters, grand-daughters, aunts, cousins, grandmothers, and great grandmothers! What is more beautiful than a righteous woman? I can't think of a single thing. I love the sight of a mom cooking for her family, a group of girl friends laughing together, a grandma reading to her grandkids, two sisters singing together, or a wife welcoming her husband home from work! These are beautiful moments to me.
I've found that some of my best friends are women who happen to be my friends mothers. I don't know exactly why that is, but I know that every time I meet someone wonderful, I immediately want to meet their mother-to find out what kind of amazing woman raised this wonderful person! I am grateful for their diligence and patience. Someday, I know I want to raise wonderful children of my own and I want to be like these women who teach and raise me.
I know this holiday is a hard one for many women who are single or unable to bear children, or who have lost a child. We always hear how you don't have to bear and rear children to be a "mother", and while I believe this is true, I also know how much it can hurt for those who feel like "second-string" mothers. So, while I salute the incredible mothers out there, I want to express my gratitude for the women in my life-whether you consider yourself a "mother" or not, I am grateful for the women who have touched my life. My teachers, friends, sisters, mothers, cousins, aunts, grandmother's, and great-grandmother's-You are examples of true beauty. You radiate light and love. You teach and inspire me. You give me hope and strength. You make me laugh and remind me who I am and who I can become. I love you. Thank you.

About Me

- We are the Cartwrights! Paul and Melanie, Rachel, and Alice. We spent the first 2.5 years of marriage in the Salt Lake area, and we now live in Birmingham, England while Paul attends grad school at the Birmingham School of Acting. We love good movies-especially comedies-and nerdy things like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. We apparently love flying by the seat of our pants and having adventures! Most of all we love our Savior, Jesus Christ, and our Heavenly Father. We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon).
Let me start with saying, "Yay! I get to be the first comment ever on your blog!" Secondly I love you. Thank you for your beautiful thoughts on mothers. I cannot, CANNOT wait to see you as a beautiful mother. You will, and already are an amazing example to all those around you. I LOVE the title of your blog. Brilliant. I can't wait to see you again! How 'bout we make it a goal to both be regular bloggers? Ok? Ok. Love you dear sister.
