Rocky

In October of 2008, Caleb and Jacob were dying to quit piano lessons. My mom, in a last-ditch effort offered to get the boys a puppy if they kept up piano lesssons for two more years. The boys agreed, and mom was content, thinking they'd never actually cash in on the promise. Unfortunately for her, Caleb has a brilliant memory and reminded her of her promise every week on his way to piano lessons.

Fast forward to Saturday night, Ben and Caleb started talking about the unfulfilled promise, and before you know it, Ben, Jacob, Caleb, and I were piled in the car on our way to Mississippi to find us a dog!! It was a fun ride-we sang lots of country songs and had fun laughing together. We always end up laughing at something or someone. Love those boys.

After about 2 hours of driving, Ben realized we were really low on gas, but he only had $7.00. His debit card has been cancelled and he's waiting for a new one in the mail. I had left my purse at home, and Jacob didn't have any money on him, so we dug out about 5 bucks in quarters, and Caleb offered to give us his $1.00 bill. (He never has money with him, and we felt bad taking it.) We hadn't even gotten to our destination, and we were really worried about getting there and then all the way back home. We decided we'd get as far as we could and then we'd call mom and have her come get us in the truck. Lucky for us, Caleb's $1.00 turned out to be a $10 and we were able to get enough gas, but we were worried there for a while. :)

Anyway, we kept driving-through tiny, no-name towns, and finally got off on a dirt road that took us back in the woods to "Ms. Kelly's Trailer" where we found 11 puppies for sale! We spent almost 2 hours playing with the puppies, and eventually we picked a little boy-all black with a brown belly and feet. He was very well-behaved and kind of shy, but we loved him right away. He fell asleep in my lap on the way home!

Speaking of the way home... there was a cop car on the side of the road who suddenly decided to pull out and park in the lane of traffic, nearly killing us and the truck next to us. The guys behind us sped off the road, into the grass to avoid hitting us! Luckily, no one crashed and everyone was ok, but we were pretty shaken up for a while.

But all is well, and Rocky, our newest addition, is home safe and sound :)
