Alright-it's been long enough. I am officially caving in to the "create-a-blog-because-I-need-to-record-my-life-and-heaven-knows-I-can't-keep-a-journal" problem. I'm excited. :)
I am currently in Mandeville, LA-just outside of New Orleans-spending the next 5 weeks with my family in our "new"home. Every day, I feel more and more at home. I start saying "ya'll", listening to country music, and sittin' on the back porch, playin' with the dog... It's good to be back-see where I came from. I have flashbacks when I drive down the freeway with the thick forests reaching to the sky on each side. It's amazing how green everything is! It takes my breath away every time I go outside.
I remember being a kid here-catching ladybugs, feeding the ducks in the swampy ponds, making friends with the people in the grocery store, sweating to death in the humid air, going frog hunting with my brothers, and scratching those darn mesquito bites! Maybe it's the combination of being back with my family for the first time in four years that makes me sentimental, but maybe it's the smell of gumbo, the trailer homes, the people, the drive-thru donut shop down the road with a jukebox, the beautiful plantation homes, the spanish moss, the lizards that climb on my window at night, and a million more things that make me feel like this is where I belong... for today, anyway.
Soon, I'll be on my way to Cancun, Danville, Salt Lake, Nauvoo, and who knows where, but today, I'm grateful to be home.

About Me

- We are the Cartwrights! Paul and Melanie, Rachel, and Alice. We spent the first 2.5 years of marriage in the Salt Lake area, and we now live in Birmingham, England while Paul attends grad school at the Birmingham School of Acting. We love good movies-especially comedies-and nerdy things like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. We apparently love flying by the seat of our pants and having adventures! Most of all we love our Savior, Jesus Christ, and our Heavenly Father. We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon).
Good to see you don't do well with journaling either. Now that you have the time keep us updated. You sell yourself short you are much more beautiful than Barbie, you have an incredible inner beauty that shines for all to see!! I can't tell you how blessed I feel to know you.
